How to allow Kaseya LiveConnect to shadow a user

Configure Kaseya LiveConnect to shadow RDP session

Contributed by John R. of BOLDER Designs

For MSPs using Kaseya LiveConnect, below are instructions on how to provide support to a user session on an RDP computer or RDS server. This method allows a technician to remote-control a user's RDP session, or the RDP sessions of multiple users on an RDS server. This eliminates the need to connect to user's home computer, which does not have VSA agent.

How to set this up

On the RDP / RDS host that has the VSA agent, set the value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services\shadow to 2.

This can be automated via a VSA Procedure. The procedure sets the RDP Shadow of the Host Session to be allowed without asking the user.

Sys Mgmnt - Windows - Set TS Shadowing For LiveConnect

After the above has been set, a new option appears on the menu bar to select the Console or the RDP Session when a tech uses LiveConnect. Picking the user connects to the user's RDP session.
