How does TruGrid Licensing Work?
How does TruGrid Licensing Work?
TruGrid currently has two products (SecureRDP and BitLocker Management). TruGrid SecureRDP is licensed per USER and TruGrid BitLocker Management is licensed per DEVICE.
TruGrid licenses are NOT concurrent. All TruGrid licenses are per USER (for SecureRDP), or per DEVICE (for BitLocker Management)
SecureRDP
a. For each domain in TruGrid, every USER added to the TG-USERS group in Active Directory or Azure AD requires a unique license in order to open RDP sessions via TruGrid. Once a USER is licensed, that USER can make unlimited RDP connections.
b. For example, if a domain has 10 SecureRDP licenses inside the TruGrid Subscription Page and 15 USERS inside the TG-USERS group; the first 10 USERS to login and open RDP sessions via TruGrid will consume the 10 licenses. Thereafter, the 10 licenses remain assigned to these USERS whether or not they are signed into TruGrid. The remaining 5 USERS will be able to login to TruGrid Web or Connector but will NOT be able to open RDP sessions.
c. From above example, there are two ways to license the remaining 5 USERS. One option is to add 5 more licenses to the domain inside TruGrid Subscription page. The other option is to remove 5 currently-licensed USERS from the TG-USERS group. When licensed USERS are removed from the TG-USERS group, their licenses are freed up for other unlicensed USERS to consume.
BitLocker Device Management
a. For each domain in TruGrid, every DEVICE running the TruGrid IoT Agent requires a unique license in order to be managed inside TruGrid Device Management dashboard.
b. For example, if a domain has 10 BitLocker licenses inside the TruGrid Subscription Page and 15 DEVICES enrolled via installation of the TruGrid IoT Agent; the first 10 DEVICES to be enrolled will consume the 10 licenses. The 10 licenses remain assigned to these DEVICES whether or not they are online or offline. The remaining 5 DEVICES will remain enrolled but greyed out and not manageable.
c. From above example, there are two ways to license the remaining 5 DEVICES. One option is to add 5 more licenses to the domain inside TruGrid Subscription page. The other option is to uninstall the TruGrid IoT Agent from 5 currently-licensed DEVICES and then delete them from the Device Management page. When licensed DEVICES are removed from the Device Management dashboard, their licenses are freed up for other unlicensed DEVICES to consume.
