Utilizing Sentry and SecureConnect brokering for accessing the same machine.
How to utilize Sentry and SecureConnect brokering for accessing the same machine
In some situations, such as when there is need to circumvent using the Single Sign On (SSO) feature, it is possible to have the same devices accessed through both TruGrid Sentry brokering and Secure Connect.
Why would I do this?
- On Sentry brokered machines, by default, TruGrid will use your log in username to connect to the device you are trying to connect to:
- Some organizations use different credentials to remote to the Terminal, RDS and other servers
- Installing the SecureConnect on the server will then allow them to circumvent this SSO feature and allow them to enter the other credentials for these devices
- Upon connecting to such device via the SC connection, the user can still use the "Remember me" button in order to shorten their log in process.
How do I do this?
- Install the latest TruGrid SecureConnect agent on the Windows computer and activate it with the TG-XXXXXX Authorization Code for the domain the user is associated with. The TG-XXXXXX Authorization Code for a TruGrid domain can be found under the RESOURCE ASSIGNMENT menu
- Logon to your TruGrid Portal and assign computers to users. See further instructions here on assigning users to computers.
- Once this is done, your users will see 2 devices under the same name as pictured here:
Removing either of the options
If this kind of set up confuses the users and you wish to only have them access the device in one way, you can do it by:
- removing one of the assignments from the user in the TruGrid portal
- uninstalling SecureConnect from the device (to remove the SecureConnect brokered version)
- removing the device from TG-USERS in active directory (to remove the Sentry brokered version)
