How to Migrate TruGrid Sentry from one server to another


Migrating TruGrid Sentry from one server to another is a very simple process. Below are the basic steps:


When TruGrid Sentry is no longer needed on a server, it is very important to gracefully uninstall it from that server.It is NOT recommended to simply shut down a server hosting TruGrid Sentry


  1. On the new server, please install TruGrid Sentry and activate it
  2. Make sure new Sentry host is up and running in TruGrid portal (Go to Resource Assignment -> click green INFO icon next to Refresh Data From AD button)
  3. On the old server, please navigate to ADD / REMOVE PROGRAMS in CONTROL PANEL and uninstall TruGrid Sentry
  4. Once old Sentry is uninstalled, go to Resource Assignment and click Refresh Data from AD in order to remove the old Sentry from your portal


How to restore Trugrid Environment from backup


If you restore a backup copy of Sentry and the AD environment to another network or cloud environment while the primary production is running, it will create a major conflict.


The recommended practice to test a restore is to TEMPORARILY disable the Sentry in the PRIMARY location before enabling the Sentry in the RESTORE location, then login to dashboard. At that time, you will see effect of Sentry restore.
