| This guide is intended for IT Administrators or Service Providers. If you are a non-technical user, please contact your IT department or service provider for assistance.

## Issue Overview

After installing the Windows Update **KB5051987**, some Windows users experience an issue where **Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) sessions become stuck at login** if the user account is already logged in.

## Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps to modify Group Policy settings:

1. Press **Win + R**, type `gpmc.msc`, and press **Enter**.

### Step 2: Navigate to the Connections Policy

1. In the **Group Policy Editor**, go to:

```
Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections
```

### Step 3: Modify the Network Detection Setting

1. Locate and double-click **"Select network detection on the server"** in the right pane.
2. Change the **State** to **Enabled**.
3. Under **Options**, set **Select Network Detect Level** to: **"Use both Connect Time Detect and Continuous Network Detect"** (first option in the list).

### Step 4: Apply the Policy Changes

1. Open an **elevated Command Prompt** (Run as Administrator).
2. Type the following command and press **Enter**:

```
gpupdate /force
```

3. Once the update completes, close the Command Prompt and test the Remote Desktop connection.

| No system reboot is required.

2. Go to **Windows Update** > **Update History**.
3. Scroll down and select **Uninstall Updates**.
4. Locate **KB5051987**, select it, and click **Uninstall**.
